Synopsis.

In the very distant future, the Corpus are one of the major factions competing for control over the solar system. They worship profit and shun charity. Works out great for the upper crust, but for anyone unlucky enough not to be born already rich? Just surviving is a scramble. If you're extra misfortunate and end up in debt, you end up in a debt colony, such as Solaris on Fortuna, Venus.

The workers of Solaris are on a terraforming project. The work pays very little and the debt constantly increases both from interest and from having to purchase new limbs as their robotics wear out from constant use. If you can't pay your debt, your body can be repossessed and your brain shelved until someone else bails you out.

One such person to end up here was Ticker. Despite the unfortunate circumstances, Ticker found love with Volan and the pair began working on building up a life together until Volan was brain shelved. Ticker worked as hard as she could to get the money to bail Volan out, even selling her own robotic limbs. By the time she was able to get a new body for Volan, he'd been shelved for too long and did not remember her.

Since then, Ticker devotes herself to getting as many Solarans off of Venus as she can, enlisting the help of the Tenno--warriors who strive to maintain some kind of order in the system--to gather resources for them. She looks after the hearts of the Solarans, carving out whatever beauty she can in dark times.
