Quick Facts.
- Name: Drake Red aka Pavlov
- Birthday: May 12 (aries)
- Ethnicity/Nationality: Argentine/Irish, US American
- Sexuality: Bisexual
- Job: Was briefly employed by the government official superhuman law enforcement, but now he's a professional enemy of the state
- Location: Mobile, largely within the USA
- Personality: Drake presents himself as cocky and a troublemaker, but once someone gets to know him, it's clear he has no idea what he's doing and he's terrified of that. He is someone who went from a "rebel without a cause" sort of attitude to being the face of a revolution practically overnight. He keeps up an irresponsible front to hide the fact that he's crumbling under too much pressure. Drake is also incredibly passionate about protecting people, but he doesn't like to let many people get close to him.
- Physical Description: Drake is notable for his electric blue crest, which he typically gels up into a fan. He wears a lot of black leather, favoring a punk aesthetic, though rarely does he go all out. He's about 5' 7", though his boots lend him an inch or two, and has round, plump features and a medium complexion. His eyes are brown.
Bio.
triggers: child death, terminal illnessDrake grew up in foster care, having been left in a fire truck as an infant. The official story was always that no one knew who his parents were or why he was left there, but the truth is, certain people had been waiting for him to appear. His biological parents had been well known to the Better World Bureau--the US federal law enforcement branch for handling superhumans--and suspected that their child would have remarkable superpowers. Drake's father was killed before Drake was born and his mother fled. She did her best to leave the baby where he would be found and taken care of without the BWB knowing he was her son, but alas.
Drake instinctively and unconsciously used his telepathy powers from a young age, which lead to some people thinking he was a very easy to understand child and some people feeling uneasy around him, since he could influence their actions without either party really knowing why. This made finding a permanent or long-term home for him difficult, but around the age of eleven, Drake was fostered by a couple who he really "clicked" with and he stayed with them until he was sixteen.
The summer of his sixteenth birthday, Drake finally realized he had superpowers and decided to keep these a secret. Coincidentally, a law was passed that year that allowed minors to be recruited into the BWB if they used their superpowers for even minor infractions. Drake didn't pay much attention to that sort of thing, so it passed by his notice. Drake spent that summer practicing his powers and realized that he could use them to trick teachers into thinking he'd done homework that he hadn't and, more importantly, he could trick people into seeing things or not seeing things. This meant that he could get around a school rule about "inappropriate" hairstyles and keep his crest when normally he would have had to shave it off.
He excitedly told his boyfriend, Nathan, about it, but Nathan pointed out that even using telepathy to break school rules could qualify for the BWB intervening. Drake agreed to stop after that first day, but he was approached by Schrodinger, the head of recruitment for the BWB. Schrodinger informed him that the BWB was interested in recruiting Drake before letting Drake get back to class. That night, Drake and Nathan were sleeping over at Nathan's house when Nathan's parents were away. An intruder broke in and killed Nathan, for unknown reasons.
Drake agreed to join the BWB after that, on the condition that Schrodinger help him find Nathan's killer.
Drake, assigned the codename Pavlov, initially only assisted Schrodinger on the weekends so that he could still complete school. His foster parents didn't like the idea of Drake being part of the BWB and expressed concern for him. One day, however, Drake and Schrodinger were investigating a woman, Devon, who was using her copying powers to do counterfeiting for money. She tried to warn Drake off of working with the BWB, saying that they were using him. That night, she disappeared and records of her existence were deleted.
Increasingly suspicious of the BWB, Drake decided he needed to put all his focus into taking them down from the inside, but he couldn't do that and go to school. He also worried about his foster parents being leveraged against him, so he wiped himself from the memories of everyone outside of the BWB. The BWB accepted this as them having more control over Drake and completed the task by erasing Drake from any records as well.
Drake's plan to take down the BWB from the inside didn't last long. In the process of rescuing Devon, Drake openly fought the BWB and went on the run, along with another agent, codenamed Baast, who had been assisting his training.
During his brief stint with the BWB, Drake was informed of two things: 1. he was the most powerful telepath ever record, and 2. he was pushing his powers faster than his brain was developing, which would eventually kill him. If Drake were to pause until his brain was more matured, he would live longer, but probably only into his 40s or 50s. If he kept using his powers as recklessly as he was, he would probably die in his 20s. Drake, feeling like it was better to do as much as he could in a short amount of time, chose to keep pushing himself, regardless of the consequences.
Drake became the face of a group called the Others, superhumans who were against the BWB's unethical practices and wanting it dismantled. It was decided that he would draw attention to himself, which allowed people with more experience and political know-how to operate with less scrutiny from the BWB and its supporters.
Drake dies at age 24.
Hooks.
- While the bio is related to lore and a universe I invented, I can adapt him to fit other verses.
- Drake is a punkass lil shit who gets himself into trouble a lot, so feel free to join him in causing trouble, being the consequences of him getting into trouble, and/or bailing him out of trouble.
- He has two Rhodesian Ridgebacks also.
- While he's got a lot of raw power for his telepathy, his training is very lacking so training with him would be fun.
Verses.
Main - points up. that's it that's the main verse
Big Two - for Marvel/DC crossovers, the BWB is switched to the Better World Initiative and is a non-government organization rather than law enforcement. I'm willing to adjust Drake's power level a little in these, especially Marvel/X-Men so that Drake isn't clashing with established lore for notable telepaths like Jean Grey.
