Synopsis.

Slade Wilson and Adeline Kane met in the military and married. Surprising most of their friends, the two seemed to settle down into domestic bliss, having two children, Grant and Joseph. While Grant was what one might expect from a military family, embracing learning to hunt and shoot with his parents, Joseph was different, special. His interests went more towards music and he was immediately recognized as a prodigy. His voice was angelic, frequently entertaining at the lavish parties thrown at the family manor.

It seemed like the Wilson family would live in bliss for the rest of their lives, but beneath the surface, there were cracks. Slade took frequent "hunting trips", but in reality, he was keeping up a career as the mercenary Deathstroke, unknown to Adeline and the children. Another mercenary called the Jackal found out about Deathstroke's family and kidnapped Joey to use as a hostage to get information on Slade's client. When Slade and Adeline went to rescue Joseph, the Jackal held a knife to Joe's throat, and Slade thought he could move fast enough to save him without giving up any information. He was almost right. Jackal slit Joey's throat, but not fatally.

Joseph became mute and Adeline divorced Slade for lying to her and endangering their son. From there, she taught Joe how to fight, being incredibly strict with him so that he would never be helpless again. Joseph never liked fighting, but for his mother's sake, he learned. In his own time, Joey favored music and art, learning the guitar, and painting, expressing himself in that way.

One day, when he saw assassins attacking his mother, Joseph and Adeline discovered that he had superpowers--the ability to leap into other people's bodies and control them. They decided to keep these powers secret, but Adeline began including Joseph in more of her work with Searchers Inc., a private investigation company that Adeline started.

Meanwhile, Grant tried to be like Deathstroke and became a mercenary, taking on a job to try to kill the Teen Titans. Due to sloppy experimental superpowers he got for that job, Grant died. Slade took over the job, feeling honor-bound to complete the task. Adeline found out about this and began investigating, learning the Titans' secret identities. When Slade captured all of the Titans but Dick Grayson, Adeline reached out and presented Joseph, with the codename Jericho to aid him in rescuing the Titans.

After successfully rescuing the Titans, Joe became first a part-time member of the team, then a full-time member. Though there was initially some friction with the team due to his father, eventually, Joe was a beloved member. He especially bonded with Raven.

Things went well for some time after that, until Joseph was possessed by the lost souls of Azarath, who longed for new bodies. Since superhuman bodies were the only ones strong enough to survive the process by which the souls would take over, they used Joey to target the Titans. Slade worked with the Titans to stop the souls and rescue Joseph, but tragically, by the time they got there, it was too late to save him as his body was too worn out from the possession. In a last moment of clarity, Joseph asked his father to kill him before he could be used to hurt his friends more, and Slade did so.

Little did anyone know... Joey's soul did not move on. Instead, while his body crumbled, his soul instinctively jumped into the nearest body: Slade's. His soul lay dormant there for a while, but lacking a form, he became not himself. More like a vengeful ghost, Joseph's soul took control of Slade and tried to kill the Titans, but Cyborg managed to trap Joe's soul in a digital file and the Titans kept that disc in storage to keep him safe.

Eventually, Raven created a new body for Joey and used magic to put his soul back into it. At first, Joe seemed normal, but it soon became clear that Joseph had come back wrong. Corrupted remnants of souls of people he'd possessed took him over and once again, he attempted to kill the Titans against his will. After being arrested, Joseph was blinded by Vigilante, so he could no longer use his powers.

While in the hospital, Joey's eyes healed, as a side effect of his mutation, but he left the bandages on to keep himself from losing control to the corrupted souls again. That is, until Joe was attacked by Black Lanterns and possessed one to get away. Inside the Black Lantern, Joe was reunited with Slade and Rose, his half-sister. The three fought off the Black Lanterns together, then Joe went with Slade to learn to stay in control.

Due to an unfortunate side effect of Joe possessing the undead, his body started decaying, so Slade worked with Dr. Sivana and a group of (mostly) villains to create a machine that could heal Joseph. This machine was called the Methuselah device and, after healing Joey with it, it was revealed that the device could also raise the dead and granted limited immortality to those it was used on. While some of the people working with Slade wanted to see their loved ones brought back to life, others objected to raising the dead and destroyed the device.

Joe decided to part ways with Slade again and left with Roy Harper. Later, Joe re-made Searchers Inc and does private investigation for people.
